About wayfinder fitness
our Mission.
At Wayfinder Fitness & Nutrition in Palmer, AK, we believe that the path to reaching your goals starts with an actionable plan. Talk with one of our expert coaches to learn more about which program style will fit your lifestyle. Join our gym to get results that last.
We believe fitness is a journey, not a quick fix. There’s no magic challenge here—just consistency, encouragement, and progress at your own pace. Whether you’re brand new to this or you’re coming back after time away, we’re here to walk beside you, not push you from behind. And you’ll never have to do it alone.
What makes Wayfinder different? We don’t toss people into big, overwhelming classes and hope they figure it out. Instead, we guide every new member through our On-Ramp—so you can learn how to move well, build confidence, and actually get to know your coach. From there, we check in regularly, review your goals, and keep adjusting the plan to fit your life, not the other way around. Because fitness isn’t just about what happens in the gym—it’s about your whole health, inside and out.
At the heart of it all are our values: Acceptance. Authenticity. Faith. Practice.
You won’t find ego here. You’ll find people cheering each other on, showing up even when it’s hard, and doing the real work of becoming stronger in body and mind.
This isn’t about fast change. It’s about lasting change. And we’ll help you navigate every step of that journey—together.

After earning a Bachelor’s in History and a Master’s in Teaching, Cory spent 8 years in the classroom before transitioning into fitness coaching professionally.
In 2020, Cory began his CrossFit journey and officially stepped into the CrossFit coaching world in 2023.
Now, as a coach, business owner, and dad of two little girls, Cory knows firsthand how important it is to stay strong, fit, and functional — not just for sports, but for life

Dave Rector
Head Coach
Certifications:
CrossFit Level 2 Trainer
Dave began his CrossFit career in 2018 and began coaching in 2020. He specializes in modifying high intensity movements due to injury and limited ability. Raised in the Appalachians of Northeast Georgia, he spent a great deal of his youth outside. As a teenager, he was a dedicated band kid and did not grow up participating in sport. As an adult nearing the end of a 15 year career in outdoor and environmental education, he discovered CrossFit as an outlet to fill time formerly spent in the wilderness instructing people in leadership and outdoor skills. These experiences dovetailed well with meeting people where they are in their fitness journey and coaching complex skills in a group setting. Whether in the gym or in the woods, you can catch him humming a tune. Dave is currently a stay at home dad. He is an avid wanderer and when not in the gym, he can be found playing in the wilderness with his daughter or planning his next international trip.
