Not knowing the workouts can make people do weird things: panic train, test random maxes, or do nothing because “what’s the point?”
Here’s the better way.
What you can train (without knowing any events)
1) Repeatable engine
Work hard, recover, work hard again.
2) Strength maintenance
You don’t need a brand-new PR. You need strength that holds steady while conditioning improves.
3) Basics under fatigue
Whatever your “sometimes” movement is—make it more consistent.
4) Partner skills
This is the easiest advantage to build and the most overlooked.
The weekly partner practice (do this once/week)
Pick a short workout and add rules:
- Decide roles before the timer
- Use simple cues (“your turn / my turn / steady”)
- Keep transitions clean
- Stick to the plan when it gets spicy
What to stop doing
- Random max testing every week
- Trying to cram fitness in June
- Making every session feel like a competition
Consistency wins.
Key dates
- June 9: shirt deadline
- June 24: WOD announcements
- Weekend: June 27–28
